Music by Moira Smiley | Words by Shruti Ramani, Kiarah O’Kane and Moira Smiley | Directed by Fiona Small | Featuring Queer Vermont Dancers and Allies
Bristol, Vermont – A powerful new Pride anthem, “We Are Timeless,” debuts this month as both a stirring single and a visually arresting music video. With lyrics by acclaimed vocalists and composers Shruti Ramani and Moira Smiley, music by Moira Smiley and direction by visionary filmmaker Fiona Small, the project is a celebratory and defiant affirmation of LGBTQIA+ presence, resilience, and legitimacy across generations.
Rooted in the belief that queer identity transcends time, “We Are Timeless” brings together an intergenerational ensemble of queer and allied Vermont dancers, whose performances express the beauty, pain, joy, and resistance woven into the LGBTQIA+ experience. Celebratory choruses frame verses that speak of the often-harrowing journeys towards the truest expression of ourselves and our love. This release reminds us that queer people have always existed — in every era, culture, and form.
“This piece is about visibility and lineage,” says Smiley. “We wanted to create something that not only celebrates queer people now, but also honors those who came before and paved the way against oppression.”
The music video, co-directed by Fiona Small and Smiley, blends dance, community, and symbolism in a poetic tribute to queer joy and endurance. Small’s direction captures the intimacy of movement and the magnitude of legacy, showcasing queer bodies in motion as acts of defiance, celebration, and belonging.
“‘We Are Timeless’ is a love letter to our queer ancestors and a beacon for future generations,” says Small. “It’s a call to remember, to honor, and to keep dancing.”
On June 6, 2025 the single is available on all major streaming platforms, and the official video can be viewed on YouTube. Vermonters and beyond are encouraged to share it using the hashtag #WeAreTimeless, adding their voices to a chorus that stretches across time: we are timeless, boundless, far and near - alive beyond the poison of fear.
